Extend your stay at the Wood

Stay in Yorkshire

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is one of the most beautiful areas of the UK and is a haven for not just walkers but cyclists and adrenaline junkies. There is so much to see and plenty of walking routes on offer throughout the 680 square mile area.

If you're a keen walker then the Yorkshire Dales is the perfect place to go on your next walking holiday. There are many long distance walks to choose from including:

Pennine Way: A 270 mile walk that starts in the Peak District National Park, then follows the Pennine ridge through the Yorkshire Dales up to Northumberland then goes across the Chevoit Hills and finally into the Scottish Borders. This is a challenging walk so make sure you plan your trip well and have the right support!

Dales Way: This is a less challenging walk than the Pennine Way as it is 80 miles long. The trail takes walkers from Ilkley to Bowness-in-Windemere and crosses the Pennine watershed giving views over the three peaks and takes walkers through the Lune Valley and Lake District.

Ribble Way: This 70 mile walk is divided into seven sections that are each about 10 miles long. Walkers can be sure to see many fascinating landmarks including ancient abbeys and Roman roads along the way.

With the walks covering such a vast area why not stay in pubs along the way? Providing reasonably priced accommodation, comfortable rooms, a cosy atmosphere and food served throughout the day, pubs are a great alternative to traditional B&Bs. After awe-inspiring day exploring the Yorkshire Dales walkers can relax in a pub with a plate of delicious home cooked food, pint of wonderful cask ale and chat to locals and travellers alike.

Not only can you enjoy the evenings when you stay in a pub in the Yorkshire Dales, but you can wake up feeling refreshed, invigorated and ready to start the next stage of your walking holiday. With rooms full of character and charm and all the mod cons you'll have a fantastic night's sleep!

Then in the morning you can wake up to a hearty full English breakfast waiting for you just downstairs that will set you up for the day ahead. What could be better than that!
